Botserv Top of page

What is a bot? Services bots are programs that sit in your room and look like a regular opped user in the nick list. They work for the room founder and channel ops to make commands easier and help in the control of the room. The bots are ready to use but some options, i.e. kicking for flooding, badwords, etc., need to be set by the founder. There is a limit of one services bot per channel but a mirc bot may be run by the founder along with a services bot.

Viewing the available bots: /MSG botserv botlist

This command lists the services bots that are available. Names of the bots cannot be changed. The bots all perform the same functions.

Assigning the bot: /MSG botserv assign #channel botname

This command assigns the bot to a registered channel. If you haven't registered your channel yet, look in chanserv for the commands to do so. When you view the botlist, you'll see entries like this: Kenny (who@killed.me). Botname would be "Kenny" if this were the bot being assigned to the channel. For example, to assign the bot Kenny to the channel #help, the command would be: /MSG botserv assign #help Kenny.
